Yassar Shah has a wide range of experience of both social and corporate sector. He did his Bachelor’s Degree from S.P. College, Srinagar in Environmental Sciences and Water Management. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree, he also completed couple of diplomas in Software / Web Development and after that created his own Web Development Company in the year 2006. His passion for improving the quality of the lives of the marginalized sections of the society particularly youth always pushed him towards the social sector. From 2003 –2007, He worked as Program Officer for Information Technology with Centre For Law and Development, a collective of legal practitioners committed to human rights advocacy, documentation, and scholarship in Kashmir Valley. Yassar Shah worked with Mercy Corps, (Kashmir) an international Non-Profit Organization as Program Manager (Economic Development) from 2007–2010. Through this position, he held primary responsibility for researching, designing, and implementing the ICT Program for Poverty alleviation, Promoting Entrepreneurship and Community Development. This work provided him first-hand knowledge of the challenges of developing, networking and ICT resources to promote community development in the midst of substantial infrastructural limitations and conflict-related concerns. Yassar Shah worked initially as Manager Programs and subsequently held the position of Director Programs with CHINAR International, a Non-Profit Organization based out of Srinagar from 2011-2016. This being a leadership position in the organization, he worked closely with the board on the finalization of the strategy for the organization and decision making. He was responsible for overall program management and all other activities related to the program viz; network with organizations and individuals, build partnerships for, develop plans that enabled CHINAR International to achieve its vision and mission.
